Kojic acid


A by-product in the fermentation process of malting rice, used in the manufacturing of sake, the Japanese rice wine; obtained from several fungi, including the genus Penicillium and Aspergillus

 Discovered in Japan in 1980

*Approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan as potent anti-pigment ingredient
